Inclusive Education Provider

What is the Inclusive Education Provider award for?

This award is for an educational space, teacher or facilitator that goes the extra mile to create an inclusive environment for neurominorities. Whether it is a school, home-schooling network, nursery, or neurodivergent teacher, what matters is that they go the extra mile to be neuro-inclusive and promote acceptance.

Inclusive Education Provider Award 2023

Congratulations to…

Smithdown Primary School

Smithdown Primary School’s motto is show kindness and respect to All. This is non negotiable and everyone and everything is included in this. Children have sensory diets, loops, resistance bands, fidget toys. Parents and staff access training to help understand neurodiversity. Smithdown is over 95% English as a second language and  have many different cultures and beliefs. Acceptance of neurodiversity can be a challenge to many families and Smithdown understand this. They work tirelessly to break down stigmas that maybe attached to a diagnosis.

And the highly commended finalist…

Stomping Grounds

Stomping Grounds is a social enterprise working throughout North East England to bring communities together and reconnect them with nature. Stomping Grounds provides 1:1 and group sessions for children who don’t attend school, those in mainstream and special education, community projects, parent and child, family and youth groups. There is also a ‘Reframing Autism at Forest School’ project supporting neurodivergent children, their siblings, parents and carers. Stomping Grounds currently work with over 5000 people.

Stomping Grounds is the most inclusive organisation I know, with a huge focus on welcoming, supporting and celebrating everyone’s differences, while making sure that those who might not usually get to experience acceptance and connection with others and nature do so via Forest School.
