Tourette Syndrome

What is Tourette Syndrome?

Tourette Syndrome is a neurological condition characterised by tics (involuntary movements and noises). There are many excellent qualities that are also associated with TS such as having strong verbal skills, tenacity, creativity, empathy, and hyper-focus. At Genius Within we work with clients to amplify these talents and to manage challenges.

Different for everyone

It is a misconception that all people with TS make severe movements or shout obscenities. Many people have less noticeable tics such as throat clearing or eye blinking. Tics that involve rude language or gestures are known as Coprolalia and Copropraxia and are only experienced by around 10% of people with this neurotype. Tourette Syndrome also commonly co-occurs with ADHD.
